He did it all for me

When you think about the day Jesus was sentenced for crucifixion, you can gain much insight on what Jesus wanted to do for us. The following is an excerpt from
Pastor Cesar Castellanos‘ book “Victory through the blood” (pages 140-141).
——————————————————————————————————
Jesus willingly offered to take Barabbas’ place. Barabbas represents all that we used to be, since the cross was intended for those who had rebelled against God, rather than for Jesus. Previously, the people of Israel had presented annual sacrifices so that they could receive forgiveness, but those sacrifices were only valid for a year. Now, however, as Pilate authorized His flogging, Jesus was becoming the ultimate sacrifice.
The writer to the Hebrews commented: “…
and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
” (Hebrews 9:12-14).
Paul said. “
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
” (Ephesians 1:7).
There was no other way to redeem humanity except by the blood of Jesus.
To redeem means to rescue or to remove a person’s life from the hand of the executioner
. We must understand that our redemption implied a cost, and that the price to be paid was incredibly high. Money or good deeds would never suffice – only the blood of Jesus was able to buy our redemption.”
